What does the teacher explain about Nassau?

Well, he talks about the capital, largest city, and commercial centre of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. The city of Nassau has an estimated population of 274,400, or 70 percent of the entire population of the Bahamas. Lyden Pindling International Airport, the major airport for the Bahamas, is located about 16 kilometers west of Nassau city centre, and has daily flights to major cities in Canada, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom and the United States. The city is located on the island, of New Providence, which functions much like a business district. Nassau is the site of the House of Assembly and various judicial departments and was considered historically to be a stronghold of pirates. The city was named in honour of William III of England, Prince of Orange-Nassau.

Junkanoo is a large contributor to the music of the Bahamas. It is a type of Street carnaval which occurs on December 26 and New Year’s Day. The parades are characterized by spectacular costumes made of crepe paper and powerful rhytms beaten traditionally on goatskin drums (accompanied more recently with tom-tom drums or bongo drums) as well as rich brass bands and shaking cow bells. Bahamian music also incorporates other Caribbean forms such as calypso, trinidadian soca an jamaican reggae.
