Simple Present tense of Common verbs

Everyday life in the US

Instructions: Read the text while looking at the words in bold.

Waking up: Most american people wake up between 6:30 am and 7:30 am. Then, they head into personal care such as showering and brushing teeth, and then head to work, eat breakfast, relax for a bit, and do housework.

Lunch hour: From noon to 1:00 pm, people see a lot of movement from work or housework to eating and drinking and then back again. Many americans also take the time to relax.

Getting off work: People head home to prepare and/or at dinner once the clock strikes 5:00 pm.

Winding down: Between 10:00 pm and midnight, people wind down for the day, shifting from leisure to personal care and eventually going to sleep.

Getting started: Most common activities in the US

Instructions: Read the following information about the US:

American people spend their time on various activities during the day. The average person sleeps 7 to 8 hours on an average night, but some get a lot less and others get a lot more. It’s the same way with work. However, typical time use also varies by who you talk to.

A 15-year-old spends the day differently than an adult who works full-time. Education is the leading activity for the former. As people get older and pass retirement age, it’s much more likely their working hours decrease, which leaves a lot more time to get their leisure on.

The typical time thresholds apply. In the late night and early morning, most people are sleeping regardless of age and sex. Then at around eight o'clock people commute to work. At five o’clock hour people head home.

For older aged, sleep shifts to earlier times, leisure time stays number one for most of the day after morning household activities, and most retire by the age 65.
